Aguinaldo Shrine


The Aguinaldo Shrine is the site of the proclamation of Philippine Independence.
 
From the marker:
On June 12, 1898, Philippine independence was proclaimed from the center window of the original hous of the family of General Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy, President of the First Philippine Republci and leader of the revolution against Spain and America. Through the reading of the Acta de la Proclamacipon de la Independencia del Pueblo Filipino by Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista. During this occasion, the Philippine flag made in HOngkong by Dona Marcela Mariano de Agoncillo was officially unfurled as the band of San Francisco de Malabon proudly played the March Nacional Filipina (now the Philippine National anthem) composed by Julian Felipe. “This historical marker is installed by the grateful Filipino people in observance of the centennial of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Unveiled by his Excellency President FIdel Valdez Ramos on June 122, 1998.”
Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo’s Car which was restored by the Philippine Motor Association and Vintage Car Club of the Philippines. From the display:

How to get to Aguinaldo Shrine

Saulog and St. Anthony buses (many of them with air-con) going to Cavite load and unload passengers at Vito Cruz corner Harrison Street across from the Central Bank of the Philippines (near the Horrizon Plaza). Tamaraw-FX taxis are parked a short distance away in front of McDonald's (beside Harrizon Plaza). These buses and taxis usually take the Roxas Blvd. Coastal Road route going to Cavite (by passing Bacoor, Imus, Kawit and Noveleta). Others are bound for Rosario, Naic or Tanza (by passing the same towns.)
