Bacuag is a 5th class municipality in Surigao del Norte. As of the 2000 census, Bacuag has a population of 12,206 people living in 2,333 households.

 

The municipality is mostly mountainous with limited agricultural activity in some areas. Certain areas in Bacuag are considered to be flooding hazards especially settlements near riverbanks and seashores.

 

Bacuag is politically subdivided into 9 barangays.
