Tagbina is a 4th class municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur.

Tagbina is a 4th class municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur. According to the 2000 census, Surigao del Sur has a population of 34,057 people living in 6,210 households.

 

Tagbina was once a jungle area and was occupied by the Kamayo tribe. The construction of  the Lianga - Hinatuan road led to the arrival of people coming from other places in the Mindanao. In 1946, Tagbina eventually became a barrio of Hinatuan. Tagbina then became a separate municipality in June 21, 1969.

 

Tagbina is politically subdivided into 25 barangays.
